Giorgio Armani skipped Milan Fashion Week in September, in favor of showing his Spring 2025 collection in New York. Last night, everyone from Pamela Anderson to Brie Larson showed up for the legendary Italian designer at the historic Park Avenue Armory on the Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan. Armani’s reason for venturing stateside was to commemorate his recent 90th birthday, a brand new building on Madison Avenue, and his namesake brand’s upcoming 50th anniversary. The undisputed king of Italian fashion looked back to the city during the 30s and 40s as inspiration. Armani’s latest lineup boasted swingy all-over embroidered dresses, soft tailoring, and cute pups as accessories – all in a nude, muted, and monochromatic color palette. Sig. Giorgio Armani in his element to say the very least.

Giorgio Armani Spring 2025 Collection Review

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Lovely collection, lovely casting, lovely setting. It’s definitely along the lines of Armani, but this, along with his last two haute couture collections, feels much more modern than his usual formula.” [LadyJunon]

“Missed the presence of the Giorgio Armani label during Milan Fashion Week, and was very much looking forward to this. Mr. Armani, of course, did not disappoint. Another flawless collection from the absolute master of elegance, sophistication, and glamour. The color palette is sublime, the fabrics are exquisite, the whole collection is divine.” [vogue28]

“One thing about Armani models is they’ll always look Forbes 100 rich. The collection is muted and classic yet youthful at the same time. My favorite was the menswear at the end with the hint of shimmer on it. Would have loved to see Mayowa and Ayak among the cast who I feel epitomize the classic Armani woman.” [Urban Stylin]

“I’m not a fan of Armani ready-to-wear. The fabrics are fabulous and move beautifully but it is very dated. However, the bags and the colors were good. I wish he came to NYC with his Armani Privé collection. Because that’s where the spirit of Armani really shines!” [Lola701]

Last night in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for 2024 made its triumphant return. After a four-year hiatus (the last taking place in 2018), the buzzy and splashy event is already being called “the best Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show of all time,” by members of theFashionSpot forums. On YouTube alone, the show was live-streamed by almost 10 million people at one time. Of many of the show-stopping moments from the spectacular show (including performances from Lisa, Tyla and Cher), Tyra Banks and her iconic smize made a return to the Victoria’s Secret runway, almost 20 years after she last walked. Kate Moss and Carla Bruni also made surprise appearances, with OG VS Angels Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, and Alessandra Ambrosio also present and accounted for. Elsewhere on the runway, models-of-the-moment Vittoria Ceretti, Imaan Hammam, and Alex Consani spread their wings. There was no shortage of star power to say the very least.

“I’m so sorry but this is the best Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show of all time!” [Cosplayed]

“I really like the show, it’s so different. Back to a better time and less toxic.” [Jose Antonio Lat]

“This was really good, couldn’t have gone much better!” [SLFC]

“The cast was so good! So happy to see Kate there. Candice and Adriana will just always be quintessential VS angels, just gorgeous.” [Bobby153]

“I thought it was pretty great. You can really tell that they put on a lot of effort into this, cause they had one shot to get it right and try to bring the fantasy and allure of VS back to the public. I think they accomplished that (for me anyway). It felt a lot less campy costumy spectacle and more elevated and high fashion-minded than they used to, from the production to the looks to the casting.” [Marc10]

“The music was GREAT. All of the performers rocked and the remixes were amazing, this was really the highlight for me.” [marsnoop2]

“OMG. Every single model looked GORGEOUS and I think having new girls opening/closing some of the segments was refreshing. Also, was not expecting Lisa to be this powerful and confident! Tyla and Cher KILLED it too. I’m out of words, it was all so good! [Ihhbl]

“I liked it. It’s never going to make everyone happy, but I think they did a great job. The cast was diverse and it didn’t come across as performative. Music was on point as well! The outfits were good and I really loved most of the wings. Hopefully they are back in 2025!” [jssy4eva]

Today is the day. Tonight, on October 15 from 6:30 PM ET onward, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024 will take place. The live streaming will commence with the Pink Carpet coverage and at 7 PM ET, the show will start. The lingerie brand promised this year’s show will be “a women-led articulation” of the longtime runway event, which first started in 1995. In 2019, Victoria’s Secret called off its runway show, due to a series of controversies and poor ratings. Now, four years later, it’s back.

This year’s show will feature both a new generation of talent and more established faces. Rumors have been rampant for months that Kim Jones was to leave Fendi as creative director. Today, the rumors have become a reality. After four years, Jones has parted ways with the Fendi, having served as artistic director of womenswear and couture since 2020. The British designer succeeded the late Karl Lagerfeld in designing haute couture and ready-to-wear for the luxury Italian house. Jones kick-started his tenure at Fendi with the Spring 2021 Haute Couture collection, unveiled during pandemic lockdowns. In 2022, Jones ventured to New York to celebrate the iconic Fendi Baguette (in collaboration with Marc Jacobs) and during the recent Spring 2025 season of Milan Fashion Week looked to the 1920s for inspiration (ahead of Fendi’s monumental 100th anniversary in 2025). Jones will now dedicate his time to his role at Dior Men.

“It was painful to watch. Finally it’s over.” [Kimihiro]

“HALLELUJAH!” [neogrotesque]

“Can only hope Kim Jones staying at Dior is contractual and we’re just running down the clock.” [andrew]

“AMEN! This year has been good almost great if someone else was out too (cough Demna). Welcome Pierpaolo Piccioli I guess…” [GivenchyAddict]

Amidst the non-stop game of musical chairs within the fashion world, Balenciaga is keeping hold of Demna. The Georgian designer became the creative director of Balenciaga, upon succeeding Alexander Wang in 2015. Before joining Balenciaga, Demna enjoyed stints at Maison Martin Margiela and at Louis Vuitton as senior designer of women’s ready-to-wear (under Marc Jacobs and briefly under Nicolas Ghesquière). In 2014, along with his brother Guram Gvasalia, Demna launched the buzzy brand Vetements (where Guram remains the creative director). Come 2025, Demna is set to celebrate his 10th anniversary with Balenciaga, after WWD reported the Georgian designer has renewed his contract as creative director. During the recent Paris Fashion Week festivities, Demna experimented with hoodies and denim, transforming jeans into gaiters and showing oversized sweatshirts with slogans that read “Fashion Designer”. Tech-friendly accessories and gowns featuring Demna’s signature bold shoulder were also on full display.

Demna Renews Balenciaga Contract

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“We can’t have it all…” [tourbillions]

“I have no words…” [thiago]

“Neither shocked nor surprised. Definitely has some sort of hold on the Brand! There is no other reason! And to be honest, if they really wanted to sack him it would’ve happened after the scandal. They will literally keep Demna until the wheels fall off. What a sad day!” [mteb123]

“It all comes down to this: He is making Kering a fortune by selling cheap, Walmart-quality, made-in-China crap to the aspiration brand sector whose requirements for “fashion” are limited to. One, was is mentioned in a hip-hop song or worn as a human billboard by a K-pop idol? Two, did some internet website write about how (cool/hot/lit/fire/wet/hard/tuck/chomp) it is? Three, is there a very prominent logo so everyone can see how (cool/hot/lit/fire/wet/hard/tuck/chomp) I am?” [Irere]

“I wonder if the profits are stabilizing. Obviously anecdotal but the new NYC soho store is always packed and I actually see a lot of his Balenciaga on the street.” [plentyofthorns]

“I’m not mad about it. I still like a lot of the products he is putting out and I actually see people in head-to-toe looks – mostly menswear.” [reese06]

That’s a complete wrap on Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025, with Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant of Coperni taking the fashion pack to Disneyland Paris to “magically” round out the fashion festivities. Since September 23, a total of 66 physical runway shows and 40 presentations have taken place within the City of the Light over the past week, making the Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025 season a one for the books.

Report: Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025

Mid-afternoon on Friday September 27, with a wildly star-studded cast including Gigi Hadid, Hedi Klum, Marcia Cross and Anok Yai (as the bride), Guram Gvasalia staged his latest Vetements collection, inspired by the Paris underground. Against a romantic and candle-lit backdrop of the Château de Bagatelle, Victoria Beckham presented her Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025 offering of sculptural breast plates, mixed print dresses, and cut-out tailoring.

Andreas Kronthaler brought punk to Paris for his Vivienne Westwood showcase while Nadège Vanhee-Cybulsk served up chocolate leathers that looked like butter at Hermès (and not even a PETA protester could distract from superb craftsmanship). Come nightfall on Saturday September 28, it was time to bare witness to the sophomore collection of Seán McGirr as McQueen creative director. Inside Paris’ École des Beaux-Arts, the Irish designer paid homage to the Alexander McQueen Fall 1994 collection, razor-sharp tailored suiting and Celtic influences.

Come Sunday, all eyes were on Alessandro Michele as he staged his debut runway show as Valentino creative director. Models paraded Michele’s designs of sumptuous fabrics, cascading ruffles, sequins, and bow detailing around a draped set and walked on a floor of broken mirrors. Closing out the weekend, Isabel Marant confirmed that the western trend is set to regain its momentum for Spring 2025, with a collection boasting fringe jackets, studded bags, and suede pieces.

Monday commenced with an open-air show from Stella McCartney at Paris Fashion Week. Oversized bags, suits, round form plush jackets in pastel colors, and splashes of red were consistent throughout McCartney’s lineup. Gabriela Hearst ditched New York for Paris this season, showcasing her creations on the Left Bank. Eclectic knits, sheer sheaths, and crinkled gold separates took the runway, next to sophisticated tailoring and some Western influence. To a remix of Gimmie More by Britney Spears, models at Balenciaga walked out onto an elevated catwalk, inspired by a dining table. Balenciaga creative director Demna, experimented with hoodies and denim, transforming jeans into gaiters and showing oversized sweatshirts with slogans that read “Fashion Designer”.

On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, Chanel (still without a creative director) ventured back to the Grand Palais. The Chanel Fashion Creation Studio team, gave us charming 1920s-style collars and classic tweeds that honored the brand’s rich heritage, while ostrich feather trim and delicate sheer looks floated past guests towards the end of the show. The finale was topped off with a live performance from Riley Keough, who gave attendees a rendition of Prince’s When Doves Cry, sat perched on a swing inside a vast white birdcage. At Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada doubled down on the no-pants look for another season. Nicolas Ghesquière honored the rich Louis Vuitton heritage with a runway inspired by the French fashion house’s signature trunks. Ghesquière’s lineup featured open peplum shirts, flowing silk dresses, oversized shoulder pads, and patterns by artist Laurent Grasso.

“Go off and show off, Nicolas! Let the girls know you can challenge taste without it being ugly. It looked expensive, it didn’t look tortured. Bravo!” [reese06]

“I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT. The soundtrack, the trunks as a runway. I loved the footwear, the bags, and the accessories. Ghesquiere is hitting his stride, I am so excited. I loved this collection, and I usually feel a way about what he’s been doing but I love, love, loved all of it.” [jeremydante]

“Great and surprising collection from Nicolas! Despite the layering in the styling, the amount of flow made it so enjoyable. Seeing those fabrics floating as the girls walked was fabulous!” [Lola701]

“The set alone is a perfect display of the brand without a creative director: EMPTY! At this point, just give the CD position to anyone with a name because this cannot work for another season. Will it sell? Of course, it will, but it’s not sustainable.” [Salvatore]

“My biggest fear happened: Miu Miu has become ‘The Lotta Volkova Show’. Is Miuccia even involved in the creative process anymore? It just looks like Lotta went to the archives, pulled a lot of stuff, styled the whole thing with some logo merch, and job done.” [Lola701]

“Styling is 50% of the brand now, and I just find it stupid. Just stupid.” [yslforever]

“1000x better than Seán McGirr’s debut.” [justpassingthrough]

“This is light years away from that heinous debut. It’s unexpectedly good. It’s not on Lee’s (or even Burton’s) level, but it’s was a good collection and a good show. He should’ve dumped the heavy platforms in favour of sleek stilettos and “floating” heels, but one thing at a time.” [LadyJunon]

“For me this show was a massive improvement from his debut, massive. We can all agree that we will never get McQueen in the dark version of yore, that’s a thing of the past. But I thought that McGirr this time got his s**t together and delivered a much more focused and commercially appealing collection.” [bc collector]

“It feels very déjà-vu and I blame the excessive styling. I believe without the amount of lace gloves, piercings, and better casting, it would’ve felt less Michele and more Garavani.” [thiago]

“Michele almost fooled me with that first look. The most anticipated show of the season and the most flop one. He confirmed he is a one-trick pony and has the most one-dimensional vision ever.” [FashionPower]

“I can’t imagine the Paris fashion week without Yohji and the lovely Hôtel De Ville. Hands down one of the best collections this season!” [Kanzai]

MISS | Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood

“Sad to say… I just don’t feel Vivienne anymore.” [bennyboy]

“It was cleaner, more commercial. It lacked that defiant punk energy that Vivienne did so well.
Even the runway soundtrack was odd, it wasn’t Vivienne Westwood at all.” [jeremydante]

HIT | Hermès

“Hermès womenswear is one of a kind! Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski is doing an exceptional job! Great collection. Love the see-through knit. Stunning. Nobody does timeless luxury like them.” [imjustken]

“I really enjoyed the show! Loved the set and also the dynamic walks. I find the collection very appealing.” [Valentine27]

“This is absolutely sufficient for Hermès. It’s the quiet conservative high-quality luxury that its clientele is looking for. Hermès is the LAST fashion house that needs to be ‘fashion-forward’. The brand is already so mature and so well SET, it already has a reliable surefire formula – both commercially and creatively.” [GoldenPetals]

MISS | Victoria Beckham

“She’s desperately trying to be someone she clearly isn’t.” [helmutnotdead]

“Why is Victoria Beckham always trying so hard to be someone she isn’t? She should do a sexier, more glamorous take on minimalism and stop with the artsy nonsense.” [avonlea002]

“She could donate the money to the poor, instead of doing poor fashion every season.” [90sfan]

If you thought the first portion of Paris Fashion Week was something to behold for the Spring 2025 season, the second half of the 9-day event granted us just as many fantastical fashion moments. McQueen’s Seán McGirr staged his sophomore collection as creative director, presenting razor-sharp tailored suiting and references to the Alexander McQueen Fall 1994 collection. Alessandro Michele made his long-awaited debut as Valentino creative director, staging his first runway at the helm of the luxury Italian fashion house. Sumptuous fabrics, cascading ruffles, sequins, and bow detailing were on full display, as models walked across a runway of broken glass. Chanel staged its first prêt-à-porter show without an official creative director while Nicolas Ghesquière‘s Louis Vuitton showcase paid homage to the rich heritage of the French fashion house.

See, we told you the second half of PFW would save the best moments for last. Scroll further for part two of theFashionSpot’s highlights from Paris Fashion Week Spring 2025:

Not even 24 hours have passed, and LVMH already has a replacement for Hedi Slimane at Celine. After months of speculation surrounding his future at the French fashion house (founded in 1945 by Céline Vipiana), Slimane’s departure was announced earlier today, following a 7-year tenure at the brand. Mere hours later, LVMH announced Michael Rider as Slimane’s successor (very much true to speculation in April). Rider, previously of Polo Ralph Lauren in New York, worked under Phoebe Philo as Celine design director of ready-to-wear from 2008 until 2018. The American designer is set to start his creative director role at Celine in 2025.

Michael Rider Named Celine Creative Director

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“So the rumors were true.” [Foxie-Pooh]

“Finally someone talented getting a big job!” [helmutnotdead]

“Michael Rider is perfect for the role but at the same time, it’s hard to imagine what his Celine may look like.
He is a great merchandiser because of Polo Ralph Lauren, his era at Celine is still beloved and he knows LVMH and the challenges of a multi-billion dollar company.” [Lola701]

“Very excited. I actually enjoyed what he has done with Polo RL. It’s very fashion yet very commercial merchandising. So I would love to see his version of Celine given that he was there at the peak of Phoebe and also had experience in commercial company like Polo RL.” [TaylorBinque]

“Love it. Rider has a good foundation to build on. Opening up Celine after that growth while being introverted would do wonders. I don’t think he’ll veer far from Hedi.” [Kimihiro]

The Spring 2025 season of Paris Fashion Week hasn’t even been over for a full 24 hours, and earlier today, the fashion world was rocked with the official news of Hedi Slimane parting ways with Celine. Rumors have been rampant for months regarding Slimane’s future at the LVMH-owned fashion house. Speculation continues to mount that the French designer is to take up the mantle as creative director of Chanel (following the abrupt departure of Virginie Viard in June). Slimane signed on the dotted line with Celine in 2018, having enjoyed a stint as Saint Laurent creative director from 2012 until 2016. In 2023, Celine revenues surpassed $2.1 billion and Slimane (notorious for showing off-schedule) surprised the industry by unveiling his Celine Spring 2025 collection on Sunday, September 29 amid the festivities of Paris Fashion Week. Where will Slimane land in his next act? Stay tuned.

“OMG HE’S GOING TO CHANEL KNSRDFJVNDFU5!” [LadyJunon]

“I am thinking he will go to Chanel. Hedi Slimane is the natural heir and the only one with the star aura to be there.” [Creative]

“The rumors are starting to come true. I hope that Slimane is heading to Chanel.” [MModa]

“What a shame Hedi Slimane is leaving. I really like his Celine and his products. Without him, Celine won’t have the same weight. I really feel his hand and vision through everything and I also kind of trust it. I wouldn’t mind seeing him at Chanel.” [Norden]

“Thank you Hedi for all these years! I have few pieces that I love and will keep as long as possible. Was lucky enough to attend his shows and to shoot many looks over the years. He is a designer either you love or hate but for sure he does not let you indifferent. I respect him highly as a businessman. Very few creatives deal so well with their career as he does. He knows his worth, he is confident about his vision and no matter what will stick to it.” [GivenchyAddict]

Following a whole two years of preparation, Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant staged the Coperni Spring 2025 collection at Disneyland Paris – bringing Paris Fashion Week to a magical and show-stopping end. Flashes of fireworks, light shows, music, and fountains added to the magical setting, as models emerged from Sleeping Beauty’s castle. The collection was inspired by princesses and villains, with Myer and Vaillant creating a Maleficent-inspired voluminous ball gown for none other than Kylie Jenner to close out the show.

“Disneyland or not … if I had to wait until 23h00, which is past my bedtime, just to see this show and collection, I’d be hot and upset! The setting swallowed the collection.” [Salvatore]

“Trying hard. What is the point of doing a show in Disneyland Paris if the end runway photos are this? Just that alone you know how shallow they are and how limited their direction is.” [tourbillions]

“I would be pissed if I had to go out of my way to the suburbs after hours for a show look like this? It’s not even a mess. Literally nothing. No style, no substance, no direction.” [TaylorBinque]

“The only thing people will remember is the location.” [Valentine27]

“It’s never about the clothes with them. Never! A very expensive and loud non-event.” [Lola701]
