Emily Ratajkowski turned heads as she nailed a phenomenal Donna Karan gown. The model recently attended the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Ratajkowski looked breathtaking as she embraced fall in a backless velvet gown of a stunning shade of deep brown.

As per WWD, Emily Ratajkowski pulled a piece out of the fashion archives as she donned a velvet gown from Donna Karan’s fall 1996 collection for her attendance at the 2024 LACMA Art+Film Gala in LA. The dress featured a full-sleeved satin bodice, further attached to the velvet floor-length skirt. She was styled by Emma Jade Morrison for the occasion.

Ratajkowski’s head-turning ensemble included an off-the-shoulder neckline and a stunning backless design. The actor wore her brunette hair down in a Hollywood glam style and completed the look with huge diamond earrings. Besides Ratajkowski, the star-studded affair was also attended by Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Anna Kendrick, Charli XCX, Andrew Garfield, and more.

Ratajkowski has been serving looks consistently for a while now. She recently rocked the 2024 Halloween and recreated Jennifer Lopez’s iconic 2000 Grammys moment. The 33-year-old took to her Instagram to unveil the daring outfit. Ratajkowski sported a green see-through dress and flaunted her curves in the risqué ensemble with a deep plunging neckline. Ratajkowski captioned the post, “no limits all dreams.” The actor also wore her hair in a half ponytail, just like J.Lo did at the 2000 award show.

Several fans rushed to the comments section of the Instagram post to gush over Ratajkowski’s Halloween look. One wrote, “Only you and JLo could pull a dress off like that.” Another penned, “Emily from the block.”

You’re undoubtedly fully aware that here at theFashionSpot we live for ELLE France. Week after week, issue after issue, cover after cover, the French fashion weekly delivers the goods. Over recent months alone, the magazine has forced us to make a mad dash to our local newsstands for cover starring the likes of Toni Garrn, Deva Cassell, Luna Bijl, and Rebecca Leigh Longendyke. Véronique Philipponnat secures Emily Ratajkowski as cover girl, with the unveiling of the September 19th edition of ELLE France. The American actress and model is put before the lens of photographer Nathaniel Goldberg for the occasion. In the monochromatic cover image, Ratajkowski is decked out in a matching jacket and skirt from Celine by Hedi Slimane, as chosen by cover shoot stylist Hortense Manga.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I’m not here for Emily Ratajkowski. She could go and take with her Gigi, Bella, Kendall, Amelia, Kaia and so many others!” voiced DK92 the moment the cover struck.

“I mostly dislike the idea of a ‘famous’ model because it’s cringe, but Emily Ratajkowski undoubtedly photographs well,” reasoned GoldenPetals.

Urban Stylin noted: “This is actually a decent cover. Expression could have been better but it still is chic and well composed.”

“Not one for Ratajkowski but she looks great on the cover. Love Celine by Hedi Slimane on her,” enthused forum member MModa.

Also a fan was Srdjan, commenting: “I don’t mind this cover at all! It’s giving that clichéd interpretation of a naughty Lolita-type school girl, but with a fashionable note. The jacket is great!”

“It’s just so sleek, monochromatic, slightly moody, and retro chic that I find it hard to criticize. Never minded Emily Ratajkowski, always been a one for Nathaniel Goldberg and I love that Celine look,” echoed vogue28.

Emily Ratajkowski knows how to attract a crowd, and this was proven again at the 81st Venice International Film Festival. The 33-year-old model opted for a plunging green Gucci gown to attend the premiere of Gianni Amelio’s Italian drama “Campo di Battaglia (Battleground).” Stealing the spotlight on the red carpet, Emily Ratajkowsi confidently posed in front of the cameras, where the green shade from her Gucci outfit showed off her elegant look. She complemented her Gucci gown with multiple accessories while putting on lush makeup and styling her hair in a dramatic side part.

Emily Ratajkowski’s glamorous green gown was vintage Gucci

Known for making many trending and head-turning fashion statements, Emily Ratajkowski arrived at the 81st Venice International Film Festival wearing a vintage Gucci green gown. Her choice of outfit was from the luxury brand’s 2004 autumn/winter collection that brightly contrasted the red of the carpet and highlighted her presence. The gown featured a plunging V-neckline, an almost bareback, and frilled edges making their way to the bottom of the gown.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, the model complemented her look with accessories that made her even more radiant. The Pasquale Bruni jewelry that she wore included standalone diamond earrings and a stack of silver rings. She also opted for a no-necklace look to let the neckline shine its light. In addition, Ratajrowski went with smoky brown eyeshadow, pink blush, and a mauve lip, which contrasted well with the green in the gown. Her tousled hair with a side part only accentuated the look.

Ratajkowski has made a name for herself in the fashion industry. While the recent Gucci look deserves applause, the model and actress has also experimented with a variety of other designers and styles over the years.

Meanwhile, other celebrities who attended the Venice International Film Festival this year with bold fashion choices include Amal Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Jenna Ortega, and several others.

Over recent days, everyone from Amal Clooney to Madisin Rian have descended upon the iconic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido di Venezia for the 2024 Venice Film Festival. Victoria’s Secret may be onto something when enlisting Mikael Jansson to photograph their campaign imagery. The partnership began in 2023 when the Swedish fashion photographer was called upon as the original VS Angels (including Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima and Candice Swanepoel) reunited for the Victoria’s Secret Icon campaign. Jansson was rehired to lens the imagery for the American lingerie retailer’s “Body by Victoria” collection and is back once again, this time for the Summer 2024 season. Stylist Emmanuelle Alt joins the team, as we’re whisked off to a tropical destination for a series of sun-soaked images. Gigi Hadid, Paloma Elsesser, Emily Ratajkowski and Tina Kunakey hit the beach and roam the surrounding areas throughout the campaign, ultimately making us want to book a summer getaway stat.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“Nice AI,” stated Toni Ahlgren the moment the campaign dropped.

“Victoria’s Secret isn’t even trying, That ‘show’ last year sealed their fate. Hopefully the sales are goodbecause their marketing is all over the place,” critiqued Urban Stylin.

Also not best impressed was zoom: “Hope the girls got paid well to wear this cheap, ugly trash. Alt and Jansson should be ashamed.”

“It’s Victoria’s Secret, were people expecting something different?” asked blueorchid. “I’m confused at the disappointment.”

“If someone told me this was content from the next Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, I’d believe them,” chimed in tigerrouge.

However, not everyone was left so disappointed. “Given the fact I’m relatively easily pleased, I like this. Mikael Jansson’s photograph of Gigi on her knees in the sand is gorgeous, as is the shot of Emily with the palm leaf. The coloring and Jansson’s lighting are both lovely, and I can definitely spot some of Emmanuelle Alt’s signature styling throughout. A thumbs up from me!” approved vogue28.

“Wow, there’s not a single bad cover! Loving them all. Malgosia’s is my favorite, though. Stellar casting,” applauded forum member thiago.

Fiercification commented: “Robin Galiegue is the don! Finally a new photographer who understands fashion. All the covers are wonderful but I’d have to go with Malgosia, Adwoa or Karen I reckon.”

“Amazing covers. The styling is super sharp and elegant,” admired Alquimista.

“Completely blown away, just like everyone else, over how fantastic each and every cover is! So much beauty, so much splendor and so much fabulosity. Almost an impossible task to pick just one favorite and I wouldn’t even know where to start,” enthused vogue28.

Vogue Australia December 2023 : Emily Ratajkowski by Lachlan Bailey

We take our Lachlan Bailey fix at any given moment, and whether he’s shooting sizzling summer campaigns for H&M or photographing supermodels for the covers of magazines – Bailey’s work is often a sight for sore eyes. Thankfully for us as editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, Christine Centenera favors the Aussie New York-based photographer too, who profiled Florence Pugh for the title just last month. Bailey now fixes his lens upon Emily Ratajkowski, who stars on Australian Vogue‘s December 2023 edition, five years after her last. In the subtle and demure cover image, the American model and actress is dressed by Centenera in a bralette from Hermès, a Bottega Veneta mohair coat and jewelry from Bulgari.

At once, the cover ignited debate amongst members of our forums. “Spectacular!” jal718 heralded.

“I really appreciate Vogue Australia giving Lachlan Bailey the platform he deserves and while I couldn’t care less about Emily, I think this is a nice cover. I love Bailey’s lighting and post production, his images always look beautiful. I’m all here for Vogue Australia giving us a monthly Lachlan Bailey fix!” championed aracic.

Echoing the same sentiments was vogue28: “The more I see this, the more I fall just a little more in love with it. Never been one to dislike Emily Ratajkowski and think Lachlan Bailey has just her justice, just as he does with every other subject he fixes his lens upon. The colors are gorgeous, love all those nude tones and how Centenera’s clothing choices complement Bailey’s lighting wonderfully.”

Not everyone, however, was on the same page. “I like Lachlan Bailey but this is so dreary, and not a good way,” shared forum member SLFC.

“It looks like they were trying to morph her into Penélope Cruz,” mikel pointed out.

Urban Stylin said: “I wish her hair was different on the cover, the pulled-back hair makes her head disappear due to the beige overload.”

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: M Le Magazine du Monde is the gift that keeps on giving. Over recent months, outshining its competition, the supplement to France’s Le Monde newspaper has served up a whole plethora of applause-enduing covers starring high-fashion beauties such as Rianne van Rompaey, Awar Odhiang and Selena Forrest. Fashion models always remain high on the agenda when it comes to the magazine’s front covers, with Marie-Pierre Lannelongue bestowing upon us 6 models-of-the-moment for the publication’s latest dated November 25, 2023.

Lannelongue commissions photographer Oliver Hadlee Pearch for the occasion, as well as stylist Charlotte Collet who profile models Emily Ratajkowski, Angelina Kendall, Anja Rubik, Sora Choi, Saskia de Brauw and Nyajuok Gatdet. Across an array of celebratory covers, looks from fashion brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Alaïa, Hermès, Celine and Chanel make an appearance.

The moment the covers and accompanying fashion story dropped, members of our forums were left in complete and utter awe. “F*cking fabulous!” heralded helmutnotdead.

“The latest story is fabulous indeed!” echoed thiago, sharing the same enthusiasm.

“Looove this! Sora and Angelina look AMAZING,” forum members Ihhbl raved.

Vogue28 declared: “Angelina Kendall’s cover is EVERYTHING I’ve been missing with the December covers, thus far! An overload of red, glamour, drama and joy – it’s divine. Also here for Anja Rubik’s cover and I’m rather fond of Emily Ratajkowski’s second cover. 10/10 from me!”

It’s universally known that if you want to be a model, you’ve got to be tall. For a lot of us, 5’9″ is a pretty good height, but in the fashion industry, that’s on the shorter side for a model. That doesn’t mean, however, that girls who aren’t blessed with longer legs can’t still have successful careers. In fact, there are plenty of women who have proved that, although they might not stand as tall as most models, they can still make it–like these 17 top models, all of whom are under 5’9″:

1. Lily-Rose Depp

Lily-Rose Depp may only be 5’3″, but she looms large in Karl Lagerfeld’s mind. The Chanel muse has walked many a tweed-filled runway (Haute Couture Spring 2017, Pre-Fall 2017, Haute Couture Fall 2015) and starred in various beauty and eyewear campaigns for the brand. Depp has already graced a fair number of magazine covers, among them Jalouse, LOVE, V Magazine, Vogue Paris, British Vogue, ELLE France, ELLE Greece and Vanity Fair France. We suppose she has her equally petite, preternaturally beautiful mom to thank.

2. Lottie Moss

Much like her big sister Kate Moss, Lottie Moss has risen within the industry despite being (somewhat) vertically challenged. (Needless to say, the family affiliation didn’t hurt.) The 5’6″ British beauty has fronted campaigns for Topshop, Chanel, Bulgari and RED Valentino. She’s walked the runways of Sonia Rykiel, Topshop Unique and Chanel and graced a handful of covers, the most notable being Vogue Paris’ May 2016 edition, which she shared with fellow genetically #blessed millennial Lucky Blue Smith.

3. Hailey Bieber

Instagirl Hailey Bieber is one of the most visible models of our time thanks (in part) to the 5’7″ blonde’s close friendship with the Jenner and Hadid sisters – and being married to Justin Bieber. Nevertheless, the IMG signee — who’s walked for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Jeremy Scott, Prabal Gurung, Elie Saab, Tory Burch, Off-White, Zadig & Voltaire and Tommy Hilfiger — has more than earned her stripes. She has fronted campaigns for Guess, Karl Lagerfeld, Tommy Jeans, Calvin Klein, Versace, Miu Miu, UGG. In June 2022, the American beauty unveiled Rhode – a line of efficacious, intentional skincare essentials.

4. Sofia Richie Grainge

Sofia Richie Grainge (daughter of Lionel Richie) is successfully forged her own identity in the modeling industry and now considered a style icon. The 5’6″, beauty has fronted Complex, Wonderland, Town & Country, walked the runways of Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Yeezy and Philipp Plein and appeared in the pages of W, V Magazine, Vogue Japan and Seventeen, among others.

5. Adwoa Aboah

Freckle-faced Ghanaian-British beauty Adwoa Aboah is a force to be reckoned with. The 5’8″ 24-year-old is a Vogue (and Vogue.com) favorite thanks to her fresh, rebellious personal style. Not that she needed the validation. Aboah has walked nearly every runway of note (Miu Miu, Chanel, Christian Dior, Fenty x Puma, Versace, Fendi, Moschino, Marc Jacobs, Kenzo) and starred in countless high-profile campaigns (Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Sephora). In 2017, Aboah jumped to the silver screen as Ghost in the Shell’s Lia.

6. Rose Bertram

Rose Bertram, a 5’7″ bombshell known for her curly mane and killer curves, is a favorite of Sports Illustrated, LOVE, H&M and Jeremy Scott. The IMG signee and Instagirl on the rise has also worked with beauty giant L’Oréal Paris and luxury lingerie retailer Agent Provocateur, among others.

7. Sara Sampaio

As far as Victoria’s Secret Angels go, 5’8″ Sara Sampaio is a bit on the “short” side. Still, Portugal’s most photogenic export is a mainstay on the international catwalks. In 2017, she’s strutted Balmain, Mugler, Elie Saab, Alberta Ferretti, Baja East, Marchesa, Tory Burch, Prabal Gurung and Tommy Hilfiger. Her list of recent campaign appearances is almost as long-winded — Moroccanoil, Victoria’s Secret, Blumarine, Hogan… Oh, and she’s already got Vogue, LOVE and Editorialist features under her belt.

8. Emily Ratajkowski

You’ve definitely had an eyeful of 5’7″ Emily Ratajkowski — you’ll remember her from 2013’s controversial “Blurred Lines” music video and 2014’s movie adaptation of Gone Girl. But Ratajkowski’s a model first. Her formidable CV includes a turn on Miu Miu’s Fall 2016 runway, a spot in Marc Jacobs’ sprawling Spring 2016 ad campaign and stints on the covers of CR Fashion Book, GQ Spain and British Vogue. Oh, and she’s a firm fave of Donatella Versace.

9. Marisa Miller

Marisa Miller would be a babe no matter her height, which is 5’8″, to be exact. The American fashion model is known best for looking scrumptious in Sports Illustrated and for Victoria’s Secret.

10. Kate Moss

Kate Moss is an industry icon, which is amazing, considering shes’ only 5’7″. But her keen modeling abilities and dangerous, cool-girl vibe we all wish we had have turned her into one of the most successful faces in the world.

11. Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne‘s height has been reported to be anywhere between 5’7″ and 5’8″. One thing’s for sure, she’s definitely not traditional runway height. Her agent once tried to get her cast in Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2012 show, but she was cut when Marc Jacobs asked, “Why is that dwarf in there?”

12. Devon Aoki

Devon Aoki is one of the shortest high fashion models out there, and has enjoyed a lot of success through her career. In the late 90s, she became the face of Versace and also posed for Chanel, Kenzo, Moschino, Fendi and many more. How tall is she? Just 5’5″.

13. Camille Rowe

Camille Rowe has landed campaigns with Chloé, Aldo, Dior Homme, H&M and more, as well as multiple covers of ELLE France. She’s also posed for Victoria’s Secret at only 5’7″. Not bad for a “short” girl, right?

14. Lila Moss

After posing alongside her model mother Kate Moss on Vogue Italia’s July 2016 edition, it was only a matter of time before Lila Moss reached superstardom. At 5’3″, Lila has secured campaigns for a whole multitude of fashion houses including Ermanno Scervino, Versace, Marc Jacobs and appeared on the magazine covers of British Vogue, Vogue Japan and Vanity Fair Italia to name a select few.

15. Liberty Ross

Liberty Ross‘ 5’6″ frame certainly was not a problem for Burberry, Emanuel Ungaro or Jimmy Choo–they all chose her to front their campaigns.

16. Lydia Hearst

While it helps that your family is one of the most powerful in the publishing industry when you’re trying to start a modeling career, Lydia Hearst has had a lot of success–not because of her name. She’s landed campaigns for Juicy Couture, Pringle of Scotland, Swarovski and more. Not to mention the sizeable amount of print work she’s done for international versions of VogueMarie ClaireElle and more. The 5’7″ Hearst has been so successful, that she was chosen to be a mentor for season 2 of Naomi Campbell’s modeling reality competition, The Face.

17. Laetitia Casta

Laetitia Casta has had a tremendously successful career in spite of her 5’6″ height. The credits are as far as the eye can see: A contract with L’Oréal Paris, a stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, covers of Vogue, ELLE, i-D as well as jobs modeling for Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Roberto CavalliVivienne Westwood and countless others.
